Poggio al Tesoro in lead role at Bolgheri Divino

Marilisa Allegrini celebrates twenty-three years of Poggio Al Tesoro with an exclusive vertical tasting of Solosole

“Bolgheri represents an authentic treasure for me and my family. From the moment I discovered it, I fell madly in love with it, a love at first sight, a thunderbolt that has continued to beat for twenty-three years. Being here at Poggio Al Tesoro in the company of our friends, our customers and our extraordinary team fills us with joy. This moment reminds us of the long journey we have undertaken and makes us even more enthusiastic as we look forward to our new projects”

Marilisa Allegrini’s words convey Emotion, Pride and the Energy that is so typical of her as a ‘Cavaliere del Lavoro’ (Order of Merit for Labor) who is so deeply convinced of what she does, that she does not want – or know how – to stop.

As always, her Tuscan winery Poggio Al Tesoro was one of the stars of the dinner of the 1000 on Viale dei Cipressi – the third edition of Bolgheri Divino – organised to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Bolgheri Consortium. A magical evening that paid tribute to one of the most renowned appellations in Italian wine production, chosen by Marilisa in 2001.

One of the largest in the appellation – it extends over 100 hectares, 64 of which are planted with vines, divided into four different estates – Via Bolgherese, Chiesina di San Giuseppe, Le Sondraie, Valle di Cerbaia – the estate is now one of the three spearheads of the Marilisa Allegrini Group.

To celebrate Bolgheri, after the dinner on the Viale dei Cipressi, Poggio Al Tesoro chose to organise an exclusive and unprecedented vertical tasting of five vintages of Solosole (2023, 2017, 2016, 2014, 2007) with a lunch by the sea held at the  restaurant La Pineta run by Andrea and Daniele Zazzeri (1 Michelin star).

“For us, this restaurant is an integral part of the history of Poggio Al Tesoro. When we arrived here in 2001, Luciano and his sons Andrea and Daniele welcomed us with open arms, making us feel at home. We are happy that the friendship that bound Marilisa and Luciano continues today, with sincere affection. The dishes we have decided to offer you, as well as pairing perfectly with the different vintages of Solosole you have in your glass, are those we love most”

explained Carlotta and Caterina Mastella.

There was great enthusiasm and deep satisfaction for the star of the lunch, which demonstrated its timeless class:

“Produced from Vermentino grapes and characterized by an evocative moonlit night-time harvest, Solosole is a white wine with a great personality, which time treats particularly generously, as demonstrated by the lusciousness of the different vintages. It enriches it with aromas and structure, making it decidedly fascinating thanks to the tertiary notes of hydrocarbons that develop with bottle aging. Marilisa Allegrini longed for a great white, a wine that would taste of salt, in Italian, S.A.L.E. (structure, acidity, longevity, emphatic aromatic expression) when young and the sea, in Italian, M.A.R.E. (minerality, all-enveloping, roundness, elegance) over time. That wish came true and today it is our winery’s litmus test of Bolgheri quality”

explains Christian Coco, Poggio Al Tesoro’s winemaker.

“Solosole is a beautiful case study in Italian wine. It emerged out of the intuition of a person who arrived here in Bolgheri and fell madly in love with it. This wine proves that varietal and place are superior to improvisation. It has an infinite series of merits, it is accessible, it is for everyone, it is a master key that never disappoints. It communicates the sea, the light and the scents of the land. It allows one to go back through the vintages, continuing to guarantee an enjoyment that brooks no equal. It is the Vermentino from Bolgheri, expressing the beauty of this vine, and is destined to become the ‘marine’ wine par excellence, embracing new trends more than any other”

says Andrea Lonardi, CEO of the Marilisa Allegrini Group.
